Ket cham, aged 75, former commander in chief of the Grand Army of the Republic, died at his Indianapolis home from acute indigestion. He was elected to the post on September 24, 1920 and was later succeeded by Louis Pilcher of New York at the stand encampment held here last September.
Rome reports the death of Louis Morris Iddings of Warren Ohio longtime secretary of the American embassy in Rome and a leading figure in wartime relief efforts. He passed away late last evening in Italy.
Shanghai officials and Chinese commerce leaders expect a major wireless link with America within two years. An American firm, Federal Telegraph, will build a six tower station in Shanghai and create an interior Chinese network with stations planned for Harbin Peking and Canton. Engineer in chief R R Beal leads preparatory work as equipment ships from the United States and commercial service is anticipated to extend beyond prior China trade routes.
Los Angeles Cal Dec 27 Lieu tenant Colonel James Franklin a civil war veteran and an officer of General Forrest s cavalry brigade of the confederate army died at his home here today He was 90 years old.

Eugene V. Debs announced from Washington that his post pardon activity will center on fighting future wars. He will travel to Terre Haute Indiana tonight to return home and will continue wearing prison attire for a period.
Muskogee Oklahoma December 27 A recent whipping at Antlers the Choctaw tribe home recalls an old custom of public thrashing for evil acts Major Victor M Locke Jr Indian Superintendent recalls the last legal punishment in 1899 at Akkachi for a full blood accused of stealing a Dominque hen The offense carried 30 lashes with hickory switches and three whipping posts were said to exist around Alikachi Boggy Creek forks and near Wilburton. The old law required 100 lashes for horse stealing first offense and death by shooting for repeat offenses while Cherokee use hanging.

Two of thirteen defendants were dismissed and eleven bound over to the next term of the district court under bonds of 19000 dollars each on charges of murder in connection with the killing of three men at Wilson on December 15. An agreement of attorneys was reached today.
A blaze in Ardmore Oklahoma destroyed the east section of Dilliard in the Hewitt oil field. Damage reached $190,000 with no insurance. More than 1,000 residents were made homeless as six two story buildings and many small dwellings used by field workers were wiped out.
Charleston officers report that C. F. Keeney president of District No. 17 United Mine Workers and Fred Moony secretary treasurer were released from jail on $10,000 bond each after an indictment linked to last summer’s armed miners march into Logan County.

Waukon Iowa December 27 Karl Thrust sentenced yesterday to hang on March 1929 for the murder of Inga Mgann a local school teacher will be transported to Fort Madison tomorrow to await death.
Ottumwa Iowa December 27 John Youngborg 65 was fatally injured at noon today when struck by a Washington Bucyrus or shared passenger train in the local yard near the station.

A Christmas gathering at 905 North Spruce street, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McKee Sr., featured baskets, a noon dinner, and a gift exchange. The afternoon included singing, games, and attendance by Louis Choate family, W. A. McKee family, Clinton McKee family, and Chas. McKee family.
Fire department responds to a roof fire at the Walker residence 307 North Walnut Street around 11 40 this afternoon. The blaze caused little damage and was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
