Edward T. Schnering of Waterloo was convicted of breaking and entering and sentenced to ten years in Fort Madison penitentiary by Judge P. J. Nelson in district court. Archibald Brooks of LaCrosse Wisconsin also drew ten years for breaking and entering, while Raymond Whitney of Winthrop Iowa received seven years for obtaining money under false pretenses.

Mr and Mrs J B Hagan celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the family farm in Spaulding township with 20 relatives and 47 friends joining an open house from 2 to 5 pm. Married in Creston on December 11 1875 the Hagans have lived on the same farm for 45 years. Grandchildren Eugene Lynch and Harold Henderson joined the family gathering along with siblings and relatives from Creston and Phoenix Arizona where Bert Hagan resides. Refreshments followed the dinner. The Spaulding Ladies Aid sent a bouquet and congratulatory messages were received.
Mrs B F Hoke 77 died at 3 15 this morning at the farm home near Kent after long illness. She and her husband lived on the same Kent farm for 45 years. Surviving: husband two children W H Hoke of Des Moines and Mrs A N Pierson of Creston. Funeral 1 30 Monday in the Christian church at Kent Rev W B Crudson of Corning officiating. Burial Graceland Cemetery.
Fort Dodge police report youthful actress Sarah Mahn died after taking poison in a hotel room. A letter found in her trunk requests the body be given to a sister in Roxbury Massachusetts. Welfare workers and local actors will oversee the arrangements before burial.
Creston postmaster Charles H. Thomas urges four key rules to ensure Christmas mail arrives before Dec 25. He advises wrapping securely addressing plainly using adequate postage and mailing early. The parcel post window stays open until 730 pm and Christmas cards require a two cent stamp. Unsealed printed matter up to one ounce costs one and a half cents with Open on Christmas printed outside.
