Dr Adolph Lorenz an Austrian surgeon announced that due to opposition from the American medical profession he would discontinue free clinics and return to Vienna as soon as possible. He said he harbors no malice and hopes American colleagues reconsider and accept friendship from Austrian brethren.
Clinton Indiana December report recalls October hunting incident on the Illinois shore. A small launch towed two houseboats passed while a woman screamed in agony and urged someone to shoot. The boats separated, men landed on an island point, but the woman vanished and the coroner remains without a clew to the dead woman’s identity.
In Sioux City Iowa on December 7 a clash between packing house sympathizers and workers from a Big Five plant left one man stabbed and likely fatally wounded. The violence followed an attack on a truck as bricks damaged a worker's home windows.
County tax payers plan Friday afternoon meeting at the court house in Des Moines promised a capable speaker from Des Moines to discuss the reorganization of the old Union County Tax Payers League.
Iowa City Iowa December 7 The grand jury indicted President W W Young and Cashier S E Lehnen of the defunct North Liberty Savings Bank for alleged irregularities.
E. J. Wenner former county attorney urged the Waterloo board of supervisors to appoint enough deputy sheriffs to police the city and curb holdups and robberies. A conference with city officials, the mayor, police and council police committee members was scheduled.
The weather indicates generally fair conditions tonight with little temperature change expected for Chicago. Thursday is expected to be similar, with steady temperatures and no significant storm activity anticipated.

Ether fumes sickened twenty five female workers at the Utica Boys Clothing plant operated by Sonneborn Brothers of New York. Five rooms were affected as workers fainted in sequence and two floors became untenable. One girl remained unconscious longer. others recovered quickly amid a strike at the plant.
A man with a large head scar, unnamed and origin unknown, is at the county schome in Charlotte. He mentions Norfolk Neb. and the name Clarence Hafner on letters in his pockets. Supervisors plan to move him to the hospital at Loyalty.
Washington reports Carlos Herrera, ousted in Guatemala's weekend revolution, is held as a prisoner in a military prison. Messages to the State Department indicate his government was toppled as fighting began Saturday.

St. Joseph Missouri December 7 a temporary injunction restrains police from interfering with the assembling of packing house strikers issued in circuit court by Judge T B Allen late today.
At Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, George Butler 33 fatally stabbed Edith Barker 19 with a pocket knife and then killed himself after becoming jealous over her engagement to another man.
Los Angeles December 7 The state’s case against Arthur Burch in the Kennedy murder trial has reached its peak per court attaches. Prosecution must still present circumstantial evidence linking Burch to the shooting while direct proof remains to come.

In Clarinda Iowa a 70 year old blind man, Noah Beechman, died in his sleep after his blind wife awoke to find him still. The Beechmans have been blind for years and leave four children, two sons and two daughters, including Mrs Orie Thompson and Mrs Tonkinson.

Green Bay attorney reports Herbert W. McClure acting pastor of the Christian Church until last May was sentenced to one year for abandoning his wife and three children. He asked forgiveness, but his wife remained firm.
The Pike of Marshalltown Iowa reports the city volunteers raised 4506 to cover the Salvation Army budget for the coming year. Farmers from the surrounding countryside pledged 4000 bushels of corn to be ground into meat for the poor.
Sheriff Marshall went to Doyle thirty miles from Ironton to investigate a report that Bud Osborn aged 65 was bound to a bedpost and burned to death after severe beating. The alleged crime occurred Thursday night but was not reported until today via a letter read by William H Webb of Sligo. Mrs Osborn was too injured to speak.
Six armed bandits robbed the Grand Rapids Savings Bank on Grandville Avenue this afternoon. They locked the manager and teller in the vault and escaped with an estimated $10,000. Police search for suspects in Grand Rapids Michigan.
Nancy Coonsman Hahn, a St Louis sculptor and mother, was chosen by the Missouri legislature to design a 25000 dollar tribute in the Argonne Forest for Missouri World War I soldiers. Her work was selected from six entries led by Lorado Taft. she plans to complete the monument before midsummer and then return to family duties.
A nine powers committee adopted a resolution pledging to respect China's territorial integrity and to keep wireless stations there for official use. It also discussed removal of foreign troops and abandoned territorial claims, with further action deferred to tomorrow. Washington, Dec. 7. The same day the four powers discussed a joint consultation pact on Pacific island interests, aiming to replace the Anglo Japanese agreement and requiring mutual approval before any war-related action.
The registrar Miss Matie Shay reports that in November the west half of Union County recorded twenty four births and ten deaths. The new birth registration system shows births greatly outnumbering deaths in this section. Eleven weddings were recorded in the county during the month.
A mink cape valued at 1000 dollars was torn from Mrs Sam Nilavetz as she walked in Virginia. The thief stitched the garment away and escaped with the coat leaving the victim without her mink cape.
A morning fire at J Glasgow's house in Marinda Iowa damaged the roof and upstairs and downstairs rooms. Mrs Glasgow, long ill, was unconscious when carried from the burning building by a neighbor. A nurse and family fear serious shock and plan further care.
Five voluntary bankruptcy petitions were filed in federal court here by farmers and farmers wives. Petitions list debt totals ranging from about 4 450 to 5 942 with assets showing exemptions and several noting no assets. Named filers include Clyde M Woods Charley W Wardrip William Wardrip Thos Anderson and Lizzie Anderson of Adams county and Percival Lamen and Redding in respective counties.
Springfield dispatch reports Union 14 in Springfield forwarded two appeals to John L. Lewis, international president, demanding action against State President Frank Farington and his administration for alleged misconduct. Prosecution of the named men is requested.
Rockwell City Ja Dee 7 Robert White son of Mr and Mrs Joseph White died in Fort Dodge hospital after injuries from a Wednesday night car crash near Rockwell City. He and companions were in a Cadillac driven by Daniel Moriarity en route to a country taffy pull. The car struck a railroad crossing and overturned, White suffering internal injuries while Moriarity had broken shoulder and ribs. Several others were bruised. White was a popular high school student. His father managed the Rockwell City Elevator Company.

Belfast December 7 Sir James Craig Ulster premier told the Ulster Parliament he did not think it expedient to make any statement as to the details of the English Irish agreement. The Associated Press report notes his cautious stance amid ongoing negotiations.
In Portland Oregon a robber was killed during a bank holdup at the Bank of Portland. The bank president H H Newhall was wounded by a stomach shot and another robber was captured after a chase. Police recovered the stolen money, amount unspecified.
Chicago reports a worsening union packing house strike outside the city with injuries in several centers. Authorities mobilize to manage disturbances while union leaders claim one hundred percent walkout and packers acknowledge some slowed production in affected areas.
