Hurstville’s Limestone Fortune Built by A A Hurst

In Jackson county near Maquoketa the limestone deposits fueled growth for Hurstville. Alfred A Hurst and brother William K started in 1870, building Hurst’s White Lime into a county landmark with kilns and farms expanding around the quarryed hills.
