Chicago board of trade notes heavy Winnipeg receipts offset bullish wet weather. September contracts faced liquidation pressure. cash corn demand fair. oats steadier and provisions steady to lower as corn and wheat mixed in late session.
Omaha market report shows wheat values with No 1 hard at 1.26 to 1.29, No 2 hard at 1.25 to 1.38, and No 3 mixed 1.16 to 1.25. Corn quotes list No 1 yellow at 76 and No 2 yellow at 75. Oats figures show No 3 white at 2.36 to 2.37 and No 4 white at 2.37.
St Louis cash grain prices show wheat at No 2 red 1.44 to 1.85, No 3 hard 1.30, corn No 2 yellow 4 to 4, No 3 yellow 77 to 84, No 2 white 75, No 4 white 20 to 32, with data for No 2 white 33 to 35.
Raw sugar held firm at 4.27 for Cuban duty paid with a 2 under tone while refined sugar stayed unchanged from 5.55 to 5.70 for fine granulated in early New York trading.
The Creston government thermometer recorded nightly low temperatures and seven PM highs. Report dates range from August 25 to August 31 with varying lows from 55 to 68 degrees and precipitation noted as none or trace.

Sheep 3 000 head mostly 25 to 50 cents lower. fat lambs 14.00 to 14.10. ewes 6.25. range feeding lambs 13.79 to 14.00.
New York market report shows Liberty bonds closing with First 44s at 101.28 and Second 444s at 100.25. Third 4% notes at 101.4, Fourth 4148 at 162.7, U.S. Government 3% at 101.15, and U.S. Government 44s at 107.18.
Amid shrinking stock floats from Rift-edged railroads, speculators rotated into industrials and specialties with quick-turn potential. Norfolk and Western rose to 168, Atchison to 159 1 2, Union Pacific to 164, as call money renewed at 5 percent.

Hay markets in multiple cities show steady to slight declines with rainfall noted in St Louis. No 2 timothy ranges from 19.00 to 21.00 dollars, No 2 light clover mixed from 20.00 to 21.00, No 2 heavy clover mixed 19.00 to 20.00, and choice western alfalfa 27.00 to 28.00 dollars.
Minneapolis reports flour prices in unchanged family patents at 7.70 to 8.20 a barrel for 98 pound cotton sacks. Shipments total 36 291 barrels with bran at 21.00.
Coffee trading in New York shows firmer demand with Rio No. 7 at 18 percent and Santos No. 4 at 22 percent. Futures barely steady with Sept at 18.04 and Dec at 17.84.

The M. L. Bridge club met at 312 North Vine Street hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weidman. Clifford Porter won high honors with Penny Robison taking the consolation prize as the group enjoyed a bridge evening followed by refreshments.
A Sunday reunion at McKinley Park gathered members of the Miley and Dawson families to honor Mrs. Roy L. Daw son and children, who plan to move to Enid Oklahoma Wednesday. Attendees included Mrs. Roy J. Dawson and children, Roy Cook and family, Mrs. Arthur Miley, Harley Clem and daughter Fern, Mrs. B B Beal, and Mrs. O B Miley.
William Sherdel and Henry Lee Meadows were chosen to pitch for St Louis in the opening game of the second doubleheader against the Pirates. Attendance reached 22,000, with the day’s total expected to surpass last Tuesday’s 29,522. The Cardinals led 5 to 1 in the sixth after Hafey, Bell, Douthit, and Southworth produced key hits and Bell homered.

Mr and Mrs J H Metz left for Des Moines to attend the fair. Earl Van Derveer returned to work after a two week vacation. Mr and Mrs C H Powers and daughter Aretta of Spaulding township shopped in Creston. Pearle Belding resumed duties at Spriggs Insurance after a two week vacation. Mr and Mrs C W Winslow and sons left for Ottumwa for a few days. Misses Grace Chandler and Winifred Conway left for Cornin for a visit. Mr and Mrs G C Bentley and children are in Des Moines attending the fair. Glen Adams returned to Winterset after two weeks in charge of United Self Serve. Mr and Mrs Harry Jones of Marshalltown returned home after a weekend visit. Miss Helen Brown of Bozeman Mont arrived to spend winter with H S Brown and Mrs. Robert McMaster.
Jiddu Krishnamurti spoke to the Order of Round Table attendees in Chicago and hinted that Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford may support the group. Theosophists hope his Chicago visit signals future messages at the Order of the Star in the East.
Des Moines August 31 A 13 year old Mossman defeated the defending horseshoe champion by 50 to 42 in the second round of the state fair tournament. The four foot tall boy weighs under 106 pounds and won every other match in the second round. Other results noted include C Freel of Murray Ia with a perfect score and a close 50 to 43 win over W I Johnson.
The Burlington Route will operate a special Labor Day excursion to Chicago. The train departs Creston at 11 10 p m September 4 and arrives in Chicago at 10 40 a m September 5. Round trip fares are 9 00. The return runs September 6 at 6 35 p m. The trip includes Chicago attractions and a Pittsburgh game September 5 and a Detroit game September 6. Half fare for children 5 to 12. no baggage checked.
