Fair Attracts 20000 To City In Week Long Event
The Union county fair drew about 20 000 visitors this week with daily totals rising from 2500 on Tuesday to 5500 on Thursday and 2557 on Friday. Auto races closed today with no admission. The four day track record for trotting fell to Signal Spring owned by Joe Haldeman. Fireworks and amphitheater acts complemented the program.

Streator Illinois August 27 authorities tighten circumstantial case against 21 year old Harry D Hill in the slaying of his mother Eliza Hill. Coroner L D Howe disclosed a false Springfield trip by Hill’s father Dr H C Hill and Police Chief Robb. A murder warrant had been issued as Hill allegedly killed his mother and buried her in a basement grave after she reproved him for forging checks.

Washington reports a second attack on Americans in Mexico with the seizure of the Amparo mining company in Jalisco by radicals who besieged 18 Americans and 11 British subjects. New World Circling Mark Is Expected
The Pride of Detroit monoplane, carrying William Brock and Edward Schlee, departed Harbor Grace for Croydon to begin a bid to beat the 28 day 14 hour 30 minute globe circling record. The craft refueled, had about 350 gallons of fuel added, and reported perfect weather with a northwest wind and clear skies as it left for the trans Atlantic leg.

Two Autos Stolen in Creston During Fair Week
Two automobiles were stolen in Creston last night with one recovered near the fair grounds a few hours later. A Chevrolet coupe owned by J P Healey of Creston was stolen from the downtown district and not located. Chief Art Loudon suspects joy riders aiming for a distant city, likely Omaha. A second car owned by farmer Frank Ingraham also stolen from the downtown district was found on a side street off North Sycamore.
