International counterfeiters arrested in Honolulu ring
Federal officials say a wide counterfeiting conspiracy centered in Honolulu with tentacles to the Orient is being dismantled. Nine arrested locals eight Japanese and one Spanish Hawaiian and about 250000 in counterfeit money plus two printing plates were seized. The scheme operated for two years linking opium rings to counterfeit crime with plates sold to various members producing identical bills across the islands.
