The thirteenth annual pow wow by the Musquakie Indians ended in Tama Iowa with large crowds. The event opened last Thursday and attendance exceeded all previous years. Organizers expect no pow wow next year, possibly replacing it with an Indian fair as farmers resume work. Participants included Winnebago Indians and tribes from Kansas and Oklahoma.

Clarinda Iowa Aug 23 A new theory posits jealousy as the motive in the fatal shooting of Miss Elsie Benge formerly of Marysville Missouri and Thomas E Anderson a salesman for United States Stock Powder Co of Council Bluffs. Their bodies were found in a cornfield near Clarinda. A bill of sale in Benge’s pocketbook showed Anderson bought the item for her.
