Engineering Does Away With Rapids

Sault Ste. Marie Michigan August twenty third. Modern engineering has reduced the Soo rapids to rocks and shallow pools by completing the last dam above the rapids. The rapid’s capitulation drew near over 70 years and now, within an hour of dam closure, rapids are gone and pools remain where fish and moss fill the air. Anglers hope the deep remaining pools will attract rainbow and speckled trout. Dams regulate Lake Superior depth and sustain steady water for locks.
