Bandit Robbery Strikes Vinton Bank for 25000
Five young gunmen robbed Farmers National Bank in Vinton Iowa taking about 25000 in cash. They ordered cashier George Hellroy to hide and forced staff to open the vault while a laundryman outside was knocked down but not seriously hurt. Four robbers fled with the money as the fifth kept guard.

Two Killed In Virginia Police Fight
Williamson West Virginia August 19 two officers were killed when two factions of the Williamson police force clashed in the street in a gun battle. D W Deerfield and Harvey Mc Guire were killed Julius Lawson and James Kirkpatrick surrendered and jailed. The two groups had long feuded with one side calling themselves regulars and the other the deposed officers. Witnesses say Lawson and Kirkpatrick fired first and Deerfield died instantly while McGuire was fatally struck in crossfire.

Tractor tests draw crowd from Union farmers
