In Council Bluffs Iowa on August 15 L Sullivan aged 70 died after being struck by an automobile driven by Homer Kearne aged 16 a farmer boy. Sullivan sustained injuries and died at once. The incident occurred in Council Bluffs.
Eammon De Valera formerly noted as president of the Irish Republic was arrested by Free State troops while addressing a large outdoor meeting in Ennis County Clare. Troops fired over the heads of the crowd causing a stampede before the arrest.
