Members of the Loyal Workers of the Christian church will gather Wednesday afternoon in the church basement for a social meeting. A large attendance is expected as those in charge promote the event.
Frank KE Agnew's Money Raising Sale at Fletcher Mercantile Co opened last Saturday in Creston drawing enormous crowds from up to fifty miles. N M Fletcher of Chicago personally oversees the event claiming Creston is the best size town for such sales and noting 24 years in the business. The store promises seasonable clothing and furnishings at about their own price through the sale period.
An inventor spent 15 years perfecting a letter cancelling machine. The article notes the mathematical plus sign as an abbreviation from P for plus. It mentions licorice root as viewed by Turks as a pest. It also states that 34 miles of wire cable power the elevator system of the Woolworth Building in New York.
A two day American Legion organized picnic in Lorimer town features Farmers Day with speaker A K Bliss from Amesia, home canning talks, baseball games, dances and a large prize dinner each day. Attendees from the region expected for a busy schedule and large crowds.
The Advertiser records a letter from W H Lyon of Rogers Arkansas renewing his subscription and noting plans to visit Creston around September. It mentions G C Morrison also of Rogers planning a Studebaker trip to Creston and Walter Slocum and family traveling from Cave Springs Massena Iowa to visit Lyon on August 9th with a return expected this week.

Announced this morning that the Baptist church team versus Swift & Company game scheduled for this evening is canceled due to the death of George W. Kivett, a former Baptist church player. The Wednesday Baptists versus Knights of Columbus game is also canceled for the same reason.
Announcement says Minnie Huston, colored, arrested by federal officers on liquor transport charges, was released on bond of 504 dollars from Union County jail. Her case will be considered by the next federal grand jury convening in this city.
A Polk county deputy sheriff arrived in the city Saturday evening and yesterday returned with Louis L. Wilson. Wilson was arrested by Sheriff Fred Collings on a Des Moines warrant for forgery. He has been on parole from a five year reformatory sentence and will likely resume that term.
Sixty two hunting licenses for 1921 1922 have been issued by county Auditor W G Wickham since July 1. Licenses run from July 1 to July 1 next year. Squirrel season begins September 1 to January 1 ducks geese season opens September 16.
The Loyal Workers meet in the church basement Wednesday afternoon for work and a social time. The Ladies Aid will meet Thursday afternoon in the church basement. Both societies are praised for their church work and encouraged. Rev Price delivered a fine sermon yesterday. If you missed it, you missed a good one.
