Sigourney Man Killed In Auto Accident

Bert Thompson, 45, died instantly when his car ran off the road and landed in a ditch several miles west of Davenport. He worked at the Linwood quarries. his wife and five children had come to Davenport to visit and attend the fair.

Head On Collision Kills 500 Hogs Near Lacey

Oskaloosa August 14 Five hundred head of hogs died in a head on collision of two M and St L freight trains north of Lacey a few miles from here last night. Engine crews jumped to safety as trains traveled about 25 miles an hour. Both engines were badly damaged and wreckage strewn for over a hundred yards. Traffic interrupted overnight.
