Former Iowa Man Ends Life Near Los Angeles
Tipton August 18. Herman B. Shipley, 39, a former Tipton man, committed suicide near Los Angeles yesterday. His body will arrive in Tipton Tuesday night and be taken to his aunt’s home. A telegram to the family praised him, causing surprise. He survived by a wife who divorced him years ago and a 16 year old daughter. Shipley served in the Canadian army during the war, later joined the U.S. army, deserted, and was imprisoned at Camp Dodge. He leaves an estate of about 1,100,000 and a large farm.
