168th Infantry Wins Rifle Shoot
The rifle team of the 168th infantry national guard won the yearly championship rifle shoot at Camp Dodge. This marks the third consecutive victory over their rival 1383rd. Col. Glenn Haynes hosted a luncheon for the winners as guardsmen prepared for the annual battle formation and the split camp events.

Simmons Electrocuted at Nebraska State Prison
Walter Ray Simmons, former Montana cowboy and deputy sheriff, was executed at the state prison in Lincoln at 7:05 a.m. for the slaying of Frank Pahl of Spencer Nebraska. The current remained on for one minute before officials declared him dead.
