Three veterans were laid to rest in Iowa with large turnouts. A registered tournament trapshoot will be held at the Creston Gun Club grounds west of the city on Friday, September 2. An expected 50 to 75 shooters from outside Creston include top professionals and champions such as John Hogan of Des Moines and Lt. Russell. The club, formed last spring with 47 members, lies at Summit Lake north of the Country Club, and Creston will host one of Iowa’s largest shoots this fall.

No Ladies Aid meeting due to Thursday Sunday School Picnic. Picnic Thursday at McKinley Park. bring a car at 10 am if possible and a well filled basket for a good old fashioned time.
A local baseball game at Corning yesterday afternoon drew a large crowd. The Bedford team was shut out as Corning won the contest by a score of 5 to 0.
Turtle racing, a Bahamas favored sport, is to be imported into Florida by local sportsmen. Loggerhead turtles will be harnessed and ridden by bathers in jockey style, finishing soaked. Entries were gathered along the Florida keys after weeks of search.

He notes no breakdowns after driving through Minnesota South Dakota North Dakota Montana Idaho Washington Oregon with a Yellowstone Park side trip and reports mileage of 27 to 28 miles per gallon while noting heat and dust.
