The Federal Reserve Board announced rate cuts to three and a half percent at the New York and Boston banks. Boston and New York branches said rediscount rates on all paper and maturities drop from four percent, effective Friday August 5.

Lincoln township Farm Bureau meeting features Dalby troupe
Professional entertainers presented a program at the Lincoln township Farm Bureau meeting held at Jerusalem Church. L A Nordhauser noted unusually large attendance, with about 120 people. W A Sadler presided as director, and Mrs Lt Dalby and her Mt Ayr children performed including readings, a violin solo, a pianologue and a saw performance. Francis Dalby played a saw, and a three part reading by Mrs Dalby highlighted the program. Douglas township Farm Bureau will meet Friday night at MekKee schoolhouse. A poultry culling demonstration for Platte township residents will be at Mrs Robert Brown’s farm at 8:30 Monday morning.

Word of the death of Mrs Margaret Donahue, an old Creston resident, reached Creston today. She died in Chicago and her body will be brought to Creston Saturday evening for funeral services Monday, with three sisters and one brother surviving.

Court Records Move From Vault To Fire Prone Wood Files
District court documents dating back to 1859 were removed from the vault in the county clerk office and placed on a wooden shelf in the main room. Miss Emma Beaumont and her deputy expect to finish the transfer today after starting yesterday. The wooden files, peached by a ceiling ladder, are unprotected from fire though fireproof files are full. Supervisors refused a fireproof case for the old records, which are important for clearing property titles.

Earl Hagle Is Back At Afton
Earl Hagie is back in Afton Iowa after a Tuesday arrest in Sioux City with Willa Ingham. A missing two week old girl from Afton was found, but did not return with her father and brother in law who traveled to Sioux City and then Des Moines to visit her sister. Clyde Killion of Afton who was with Hagie and Miss Ingham in Nebraska is said to have gone to North Dakota. Hagie plans to return to Sioux City to resume work in a packing house.
