Chicago cash grain brief lists wheat corn oats rye barley and seed prices. It records bid prices for No 2 red wheat at 1.86 to 1.87, corn No 2 at 1.04, oats No 2 white around 0.44 to 0.46, and fats like lard at 12.20, ribs 11.62, bellies 14.00, with numerous grade variations.
Daily high and low temperatures listed for Creston from July 28 to August 3. Readings include 97/78 with trace, 91/60 with 10 percent, 81/58 with none, 87/59 with none, 77/58 with none, and 68/47 with 0.2 inches of precipitation.
Chicago markets report large hog supplies pressuring values while cattle and lambs hold steady or rise. Sheep receipts 1,500 with range lambs mostly steady and natives about 25 cents lower. feeding lambs and weights noted with top prices.
Chicago August 3 grain markets showed unusual steadiness amid stock and cotton declines. President Coolidge’s announcement had little impact on cereals or provisions as pits stayed dull. Wheat opened unchanged to seed, then rallied slightly while corn moved up fractions before a general uptick. Outs sagged. provisions remained easy.
The recuperative power in the today stock market sparked a wild scramble by shorts to cover. Dupont jumped from 280 to 299 at one point setting a record, Timken Roller Bearing rose to 142 from 1382, while U S Steel Baldwin and General Motors pulled back from intraday highs by about two points. Call loan renewals remained at 4 percent and total volume reached about 2.7 million shares.

Potatoes receipts 62 cars on track. total U S shipments 324 cars. trading good and market strong. Virginia Irish cobblers priced 3.85 to 4.10 per barrel. Kansas Irish cobbler 1.90 to 2.15. Butter lower with receipts 8 to 12 tubs. creamery extras 39 to 39.5. firsts 36 to 38. Eyes higher with 8 to 36 cases. firsts 24 to 25. ordinary first 21 to 22.
New York reports steady butter with receipts of 19 384 tubs and creamery extras at 92 score 401 percent. Eggs show firm demand with 19 60 cases, fresh gathered extra first at 27 29 percent and firsts 26 26 percent. Nearby henery whites and browns with extras 38 41 and 23 38 respectively.
U S Dept of Agriculture reports from St. Joseph on August 3 describe cattle hog and sheep receipts and price ranges. Hog receipts about 7,000 with weights 160 to 280 pounds largely steady to down 10 to 15 cents, top near 10.50. Cattle receipts about 2,300 with calves 400. steers and yearlings active and mixed price levels, beef cows mostly 5.75 to 7.75. veal top 12.00. Sheep receipts about 6,000 with fat lambs steady, medium native lambs around 12.00 to 13.50 and fat ewes near 6.00.
Hay trading reports from Kansas City and St. Louis show slow, irregular activity with receipts of 39 cars in Kansas City. Prices listed for No 2 old Timothy 16 to 18 dollars, No 2 new Timothy 12 to 18, No 2 new light clover mixed 12 to 14, No 2 new heavy clover mixed 12 to 18, and choice alfalfa 21 to 22 dollars.
Flour unchanged in carload lots quoted at 8.10 per barrel in U S pound cotton sacks. Shipments 32 960 barrels. Bran prices steady around 24.50 to 25.50.
Omaha August 3 Wheat prices listed for various grades with No 1 hard at 1.28 to 1.37 No 2 hard 1.25 to 1.42 and No 1 mixed at 2.28 per bushel Corn shows No 2 white 96 No 2 yellow 98 and No 8 yellow 96 Oats follow with No 2 white 96 No 2 yellow 844 No 3 yellow 96 and additional No 2 white 41 to 43 and No 3 white 38 4 to 3.
St Louis cash grain prices list futures-like quotes for wheat corn and oats. Prices shown for No 2 red wheat No 2 hard corn mixed yellow and white varieties with several cents per bushel differences.
Toledo seed quotations from August 3 show Clover seed cash 14.00 bid 17.65 for October and 17.40 bid for December imported, domestic 15.00 asked. Timothy seed cash 2.45, December 2.00?4.
Liberty bond quotes show First 4145 at 1023.8, Second 4% at 100.10, Third 4.44 at 101.2, Fourth 4148 at 103.51, Treasury 3% at 100.16, Do 4s at 108.18, Do 4% at 113.15.

Dubuque Iowa August 3 Rotary officials announce a tri state round up on Friday August 12 with clubs from Iowa Illinois and Indiana expected. Arthur Sapp president Rotary International will speak. A golf tournament at Dubuque Country Club and an open air dinner at Eagle Point park are planned.
Raw sugar remains quiet in New York with prices nominal as buyers stay away above 4.43. Refined sugar unchanged at 5.70 to 5.80 for fine granulated.
A Milwaukee freight train wreck near Covington in Cedar Rapids county injures ten workers, with four missing and presumed dead. The east-bound train broke on a broken track, sending crew from Atkins shops to Marion to collect wages to hospital with head injuries and profuse bleeding.
Brigadier General James Co. Rhea 51, head of New England citizen military training camps, died at his Brookline home after a brief illness. Born March 7, 1876 in Iowa, Rhea’s death follows a long career in National Guard service.
New Orleans August 3 The cotton market fell about five dollars a bale as traders liquidated amid fears of an August movement and a bearish government crop report due next Monday. The drop adds to a roughly $11 loss from the week’s high, with December futures sliding from 19.04 last Wednesday to 16.81 at the close, down 223 points.
The steamer 5 S Thorpe of the Upper Mississippi Barge line reached Clinton from Dubuque for its maiden trip to St Louis. It left Dubuque at 2 PM yesterday, arrived at Savanna Illinois about 7 PM, then Clinton this morning. A Clinton delegation will travel to Davenport and return to continue to St Louis.
