Empress at La Trappe and Buckhurst Pursuit in 1870

In August 1870 at Morsbronn Alsace the Imperial Police pursue John Buckhurst after a jewel theft at the Tuileries. The narrative follows Inspector Scarlett’s covert mission to La Trappe, Countess de Vassart’s commune, and Buckhurst’s growing control over the sect. A Turkish-hued chase through rain and frontiers ends with Buckhurst infiltrating La Trappe, while Scarlett conceals his role in a disguise as a Hussar.
