The Methodist church announces services next Sunday with Rev. C. L. Ebell preaching. Morning topic Steadfastness and evening topic Abraham. The pastor will begin a series of Sunday evening talks on Old Testament characters, starting with this first talk.
The Young People's Christian Association of the Second Presbyterian Church will hold a Sunday evening meeting in the chapel. The topic is The Christian Virtues Humility led by Miss Della Bergen.
Rally Day will be observed at Second Presbyterian and Methodist Sunday schools next Sunday October sixth with special exercises. At Second Presbyterian a speaker will be announced later, talks by Geo. B. Mershon J. B. Silvers Dr. G. Van Dyke, solo by W Russell Silvers, and full orchestra music. The Methodist program in the afternoon includes school songs prayer scripture led by Thos McCowatt primary exercises junior class song recitation Bertha Ochler duet Bertha and Isabelle Ochier solo Miss Hattie Lewis pastor address and orchestra music.
The Second Presbyterian Church youth group will host a chapel social this Friday evening. A brief program precedes the social with orchestra pieces, piano solos by Arthur L. Burroughs and others, readings by Della Bergen and Marie Groves, and various solos and recitations by local performers.
The Sunday schools of the Presbyterian Church of Dayton announce their anniversary on Sunday October 13. Rev Henry Collins Minton D D of Trenton will deliver the address.
Sunday rally of the First Presbyterian Sunday School featured department reports. Secretary lists 257 scholars on roll, seven officers and twenty six teachers. New classes formed, one disbanded, two joined church, four church members added, totaling 135. Music led by I C Hoffman with thirteen instruments.
Cranbury's First Church sent delegates to the C. E. Convention in New Brunswick including Miss Elva Chamberlin Miss Reba Vreeland Miss Elizabeth Davison Miss Mayme Chamberlin Russell Afershon and Charles Symmes.
At a Saturday meeting the congregation decided to open a new street across parsonage land and lay it out in building lots to meet a high demand. The route follows the current drive up the lawn to a corner lot manse and crosses the farm to Cranbury Neck road. Trustees lead the project while Apollo Lodge No 156 FL & A. M. members attended Grand Lodge events in Trenton with several named attendees.
The Fourth Presbyterian church of Trenton unanimously called Rev. Wm. Curry of Parnassus Pennsylvania to succeed Rev. Hugh B. MacCauley. The terms are $2,000 annually and use of the manse. Curry is well known locally and praised for forceful sermons and zealous work.
The Rev. Thomas O'Hanlon D D LL D long time Pennington Seminary president and ex pastor of State Street and First Methodist Churches of Trenton died Tuesday night at his Ocean Grove home after a short illness. He had been unwell about a year but stayed active until Wednesday when he was stricken seriously ill.
Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Rhoda Dey wife of Orlanda Dey at her home near Hightstown. Rev. Wolf of Manalapan Presbyterian Church officiated with interment in Manalapan Cemetery under Allen and Stults supervision.
Frank Sailey of Dutch Neck died Monday after an appendectomy performed September 26 by Dr. Reddan at St. Francis Hospital Trenton. He leaves his wife and three children. Funeral services were held at Dutch Neck Church on Wednesday afternoon and were conducted by the Jr. O. U. A. M.
Resolutions from the Second Presbyterian Sabbath School in Cranbury New Jersey honoring William J Campbell as a trusted superintendent and Christian influence. They praise his dedication to teaching and living by his faith and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family while invoking divine comfort and peace. Dated October 2 1912.
John E. Gill, chairman of the Board of Managers at the New Jersey State Home for Boys, Jamesburg, has contracted Moses of the Trenton theatre and Taylor Opera House to install a moving picture machine in the institution. Also note an ad for Chamberlain's tablets and a sale by all dealers.
The Circle met at Mrs. Burroughs home with a program on The New Woman featuring Mrs. Davison Curry Symmes and others. A denominational youth rally for the Presbytery of Monmouth will be held in Jamesburg with sessions at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Elizabeth Stuart Snedeker of Dayton married William S Grover Jr of New Brunswick at the Snedeker home. ceremony by Rev James B Clark with yellow and white decor and chrysanthemums.
