County Teams to Spell at Perth Amboy High School

The spelling contest between Monmouth and Middlesex counties is set for Saturday June 2 at Perth Amboy High School. Ten winners from Middlesex will join ten Monmouth contestants plus five alternates. a 200 word written test at 10 am and an oral test at 2 pm will determine the team. Monmouth contestants and alternates are listed, with names and towns. Mrs Henry Petty and Mrs Miriam A Petty, wife of Henry Petty, died after a brief illness in Perth Amboy. funeral held with interment at German cemetery.

Miss Ella Norton Dies At 64 In Hightstown

Miss Ella T Norton daughter of Daniel and Elmira Norton died Wednesday at her Main Street home after a brief illness. She lived in Hightstown most of her life aside from two years in California and was a known music instructor and store operator. A lifelong Universal Church member, she will be buried privately Friday at East Windsor Cemetery under Allen & Stults.

James H Field Dies After Car Crash at Langhorne

James H Field prominent Hightsown horseman died in Fiwithforth Hospital Philadelphia from a fractured skull after a collision near Langhorne. Funeral at his East Ward Street home in Hightstown Sunday at 2 PM officiated by Rev. W A Stanton. Survived by wife three daughters and father George Field New Sharon.

Man Dies After Being Struck by Pennsylvania Railroad Train

Edmund R. Dey of Jamesburg 26 employed by the railroad died at St. Peter's Hospital New Brunswick after being struck by a construction train he was on. He stepped in front of the approaching train and lost his life a few hours later. Survived by parents William and (unnamed) Dey three brothers William Joseph Herbert and a sister Charlotte. Funeral held Tuesday at 2 pm from his parents home with services at Jamesburg Presbyterian Church.

Jamesburg Resident David H. Kirkpatrick Dies in Connecticut

David H. Kirkpatrick a well known Jamesburg resident and brother of John P. Kirkpatrick died late Monday night at a New Canaan Connecticut health sanatorium after a three week treatment for general debility He had been in Atlantic City prior and was moved to the Connecticut resort for relief Funeral plans were not yet completed He was married to Jessie Paxton daughter of Postmaster Charles E Paxton and had no children He lived at Brooklawn and was active in the Jamesburg Presbyterian church and local music circles He belonged to Fidelity Lodge Odd Fellows and served as councilman in town
