Cattle Loss in Plainsboro Farm Fire Strikes Walker Gordon Plant

A Tuesday blaze at the Walker Gordon milk farm in Plainsboro destroyed 30 cows, 5 show bulls, and 4 calves amid 120 tons of alfalfa hay and a 32 by 1380 foot barn. The $10,000 loss, two thirds covered by insurance, halted by the blaze but did not stop farm operations. The fire, possibly from spontaneous combustion, was visible to railroad passengers and the site houses 700 valued cows among 1,200 acres in Middlesex county.
