Fire at Redford Burns Barn and Hay on Bedford Jobs Farm
A large barn on Bedford Jobs, Stockton Street, Hightstown was destroyed by fire about 10 am, wiping out 50 tons of hay and a horse. The Hightstown Fire Company saved the house and outbuildings while machinery and other contents were saved. damage is considerable. Nearby farmers alarmed by a chicken theft at Ely Perrine’s poultry houses chased and arrested the suspect with Constable Jacob Gordon, who took him to New Brunswick. Mrs HJ Groves injured in New Brunswick street accident. others joined a trip to Duke’s Farm, Somerville, where Mrs Groves broke an arm after a fall near a storefront.

Reverend D Samuel Jessup father in law of Reverend James Ramsay Swan of Philadelphia died of pneumonia in Beirut Syria on July 15 at age 77 Born in Montrose Pennsylvania he served as chaplain of the Sixth Pennsylvania Reserve Corps during the Civil War and spent over fifty years as a Presbyterian missionary in the Holy Land. He was principal of the Girard Institution at Sidon Syria from 1908 until 1907.
