The Y P C A of the Second church will meet Sunday evening to discuss Favorite chapters of the Bible and Why led by Duayyid C Luwia. The Ladies of the Methodist Church invite the public to a cake sale Monday at four o'clock featuring a variety of treats.
A Wednesday meeting at Mrs Clayton's home featured a pleasant program. Mrs Bradley spoke on the Prince of Orange, Mrs Hoffman on Barnavaldt the Statesman, Miss Groves on Jacob Cats, Mrs R Perrine on Spinoza and Joost Von der Vonder. Victrola selections enhanced the enjoyment.
Young people of the Second church held a Valentine fete on Saturday evening. They prettily trimmed the chapel and staged a playlet. The Sunday school orchestra performed selections, Miss Hattie Lewis sang, and Milton Lawrence gave a recitation. Cake ice cream and handkerchiefs were sold, raising $56.
To keep the parsonage in good condition for Rev. Warren Elsing the Second Presbyterian congregation formed a ladies committee led by G. B. Mershon, Mrs. Barclay, Mrs. Chamberlin, Mrs. Davis, and Mrs. Griggs. An appeal Sunday raised nearly the requested funds, with the Young People's Society also contributing to ensure full coverage.
Captain Daniel Cubberly aged 84 and his wife aged 62 died Monday of paralysis at their Mariner's Harbor home. Cubberly had suffered for years, his wife only a few days. Also, Mrs. E. H. Bergen of Princeton remains seriously ill after a frail week with slight improvement yesterday.
Mrs. A H Symmes and family attended Thursday’s celebration marking twenty five years of the pastorate of Rev Frank R Symmes at Tennent Church. The event honored steady leadership and long service in the parish.
Next Thursday evening Miss Mae Davis presents The Stubborn Motor Car in Langes Hall Jamesburg as a benefit for the Jamesburg Band uniform fund.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Wycoff entertained Thursday evening with Mr and Mrs Matthew Griggs Mr and Mrs Walter McDougall Misses Mary and Matilda McDougall Afidison Mc Dougall and Miss Ruhamah Strang in attendance.
The Washington's Birthday program at the Methodist church features elocutionist Miss Clara Chamberlin Miss Ina Puerechner and Mr John Soehler with orchestra. Chamberlin will perform a menu of pieces including En Route to the Ferry His Mother's Visit to the City A Pleasant Half Hour on the Beach and others. Puerechner offers Snow Flakes and In the Time of Roses while Soehler performs Your Mother is Your Best Friend After All and For What Thou Art.
Walter C F Kogge died Sunday in Albuquerque New Mexico where he had gone months earlier seeking to regain his health. He left behind his wife and a child. He had married two years earlier to Misa Aileen Cubberley of Robbinsville a noted local soloist at Hamilton Square Baptist Church. Her father William P Cubberley directors the Allentown National Bank and treasurer of Reeves Cubberley Engine Co of Trenton.
The Silver Medal Contest in Plainsboro on February 17, under Local Union and County Superintendent J. J. Bradley, saw five contestants Ernest Campbell Lester Ervin Waldo Perrine Charles Schnell Eugene Potta and Clarence Ervin. Charles Schnell won the medal while others received sterling silver stick pins. Judge panel included Professors W. R. Newton Edmund W. Billetdoux and S. A. Stephenson of Rutgers. Henry W. Jeffers delivered a pleasing Billy Sunday sermon extract.
A new maternity hospital connected to St Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick is completed at a cost of over 30000. The facility, behind the main hospital, features the latest improvements and was funded by Middlesex county residents. The December campaign aimed for occupancy by April 1 and drew generous countywide support.
A Monday evening concert in Cranbury featured Trenton performers and regional artists led by Professor Eugene Wyatt. The Wyatt School of Singing and a strong quartet with Miss Ruth Tolson Mershon and Master Norman Reeves drew praise, with Miss Miller and Miss Nevins receiving particular applause for their solos and accompaniment. The ensemble, led by Felix A. Keissling, impressed audiences with piano duets by Mrs. Perrine and Mr. Burroughs and an enthusiastic response to the entire program.

Also highlights include Miss Carolyn Pomeroy a talented violist, Miss Myrtle Bloomquist a striking contralto and accompanist, and Mr. Lloyd Loar, a renowned mandolinist who also plays viola and piano. Loar showcases a unique mando viola and a ten string tenor mandolin, offering an orchestral effect.
Announcement shows the February 6 wedding of Hugh Boyd, president of Home News Publishing, to Mrs. Laura McDowell Haven of St Louis. The ceremony occurred at a Pomona Baptist parsonage with close friends present. The couple reside in Riverside California. Mrs Haven is the widow of Col W S Haven and ten years younger than Mr Boyd.
Ernest McCue formerly captained the Hightstown nine announces he will play for Mt. Holly this season. The Mt. Holly offer includes a business position and a weekly salary, with McCue set to play behind the plate. Manager Black has not named a successor to McCue yet.
The Senate approved the woman suffrage measure with 17 votes in favor and four against, all Democrats Barber McGinnis Ramsay Munson. The decision sends the issue to voters next fall and prompts renewed education efforts to secure needed support.
New Jersey Experiment Station investigations support establishing farmers markets in more medium and large towns and cities. Local markets would cut prices, improve selection and freshness while reducing transportation and handling costs for farmers and residents.
