The Pioneer Grange gathering Tuesday evening was well attended and engaging. Mr. W. H. Havens and Mr. Albert Titus reported on the State meeting in Atlantic City last week. Mrs. J. B. Perrine contributed notes, and Andrew Perrine and Carleton Campbell were initiated as new members.

Chautauqua Dates Set for Hights Town 1915

The Hightstown Chautauqua Committee fixed the 1915 event from June 17 to June 28 and the Swarthmore Chautauqua association has accepted this date.

Havens Named Overseer at New Jersey Grange Meeting

At Atlantic City the annual meeting chose Walter H. Havens of Cranbury as Overseer of the New Jersey State Grange. Havens accepted with a graceful speech and is expected to serve well. Miss Carolyn Allinson of Allentown was named Lecturer amid noted Grange activity.

At the New Brunswick horticultural meeting this week Orchardade products and John H. Barclay of Cranbury earned top honors. Mrs Katherine Applegate Rites Held at Cranbury Home

Mrs Katherine Applegate wife of Clarkson B Applegate died Tuesday morning after a brief illness at her Cranbury home age 58 Her birth name was Katherine Patton Her brother was Mayor Patton of Jamesburg Funeral services were held at her home and interment followed at Cranbury She leaves her husband three children Mia Clarence Ely Willard Howard and three granddaughters Clara Alberta Applegate and Marie Ely.

Dentists Hallmark of Trenton. Dr H D Gihon Dies at 70

Dr H D Gihon longtime Trenton dentist died Sunday at his home 185 South Broad street in his seventieth year after a two year illness. He practiced dentistry for fifty four years and left a large practice. His son Harry D Gihon Jr was associated with him.

Death of Selah W. Gulick Observed at Home

Selah W. Gulick, unmarried elder son of Redford J. Gulick, died after a prolonged illness. He had spent time in Pittsfield mass and returned to his parents home in poorer health. Survived by his parents a brother Dr John Gulick of Schenectady N Y and two sisters Mrs Daniel Croshaw and Mrs J J Bradley of Cranbury. Funeral conducted by Rev J E Curry at the father’s residence with interment at Brainerd cemetery under A S Cole Son Co supervision.

Reading Circle Meets with Holland Program

Perrine 25th Anniversary Celebrated at River Road Home

Mr and Mrs David J Perrine celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary with a reception at their River Road home near New Brunswick attended by over 100 guests. Mr Perrine, a Middlesex County agriculture leader, and his wife a First Reformed Church member were praised for farming success and community service. The event featured Van Kirk's Orchestra, a formal decor with pink and white arrangements, and generous gifts including silverware and glassware.

Aid Society Formed at Plains Boro Presbyterian Church

About fourteen ladies met to sew garments for the Belgium Relief Society and organized a church Aid Society. Elected officers include Mrs. G. A. Burslem president, Mrs. A S Reed first vice president, Mrs. H W Jeffers second vice president, Mrs. H A Stults secretary, Mrs. Frank Perrine treasurer. Meetings set for every third Thursday. Pneumonia Strikes Pullen Family in Hightstown

In the Pullen household illness spread from grip to pneumonia. Mrs Martha Ann Shotwell aged 84 and Miss Lucretia Shotwell aged 79, mother and daughter of Mrs Pullen, died within days. Funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a m at Emerson Pullen’s homenear Hightstown.
