Fire at Hopewell Bank Damages Building but Not Contents
A fire at Hopewell National Bank on Medday caused considerable damage to walls and partitions, starting from overheated pipes near the chimney. Firemen arrived quickly and saved the building and its contents. The Methodist Donation committee thanks church members and Community friends for their generous support.

The Schultz Memorial Church held a Tuesday evening donation with a bountiful supper and entertainment by Roberts Bush Deininger and Shram of Princeton Seminary. Members and friends contributed $182. Mrs Disbrow Bergen hosted a bridal shower for Grace Farr as she prepares to wed Russell Davison. A list of attendees was noted. A Community Men’s Meeting is planned for Sunday December 9 at 8 pm in the Methodist Church with singing, an address, and officer elections.

Princeton Musical Clubs to Perform in Hightstown Charity Concert
The Princeton University Musical Clubs Glee Mandolin and Banjo Clubs plus University Quartette will give a concert at the Baptist Church in Hightstown on Wednesday evening December 12 at eight. James H. VanCleef former mayor of New Brunswick and ex senator of Middlesex County died at his residence after a four month illness due to diabetes and pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Ella Van Cleef a son Schuyler Van Cleef and two grandchildren Helena Van Cleef and James H Van Cleef.

Trenton Police Veteran Hutchinson Dies on Duty
One of Trenton’s best known police officers, 60, died Tuesday in Trenton after being stricken on duty Friday night. A 27 year veteran appointed April 1, 1890, he was born in Cranbury and worked as a watchman, at reform school, and for the Pennsylvania Railroad before joining the force. Survived by widow, son James G Hutchinson, two daughters and siblings. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm from his home, Greenwood Cemetery, Trenton.
