Prohibition urged as wartime measure near camps
The W C T U urges immediate enactment of prohibition as a war measure to protect Army and Navy personnel from saloons near camps. Commencement Date Confirmed As Normal At Princeton College

James I Hutchinson Jr son of a councilman has been named marshal for Hightstown by Mayor Bert Thomas and confirmed by council. At 20 he is a high school graduate who attended Rider Moore and Stewart Schools in Trenton and belongs to the local P O S of A camp. He begins duty to aid Chief George C Norris as borough grows, with plans for round the clock patrols.

Storm damages houses and coop in Monmouth Junction
A Saturday evening storm wreaked damage in Monmouth Junction. William Van Dyke's chicken coop was blown 35 feet onto the house, a house wall was breached with five panes broken and a door knocked down. T W Stewart's chimney toppled and Emmons & Son warehouse was torn from its foundations. Many signboards felled and other damage reported.

Mrs J L Whitaker A devoted Christian matriarch dies
Mrs J L Whitaker born Gibson March 1840 devoted life to Christian service Temperance and charity. She married Dr J L Whitaker in Unionville New York in 1858 a union lasting 59 years. She leaves her husband three daughters and a son Dr Frank Whitaker who preceded her ten years ago. Her life was guided by faith and pious family leadership, and she is remembered for her devout witness.

Death of Mrs Wilhelmina Lange in Jamesburg
After about a year of illness Wilhelmina Lange long respected Jamesburg resident died Sunday at her son Albert Lange's home. Born in Germany she came to the United States over 85 years ago and lived with her sons since. Survived by Albert Lange Otto Lange and Mia Louisa Makowsky and sister Mrs R H Makowsky. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Tuesday at 2 pm with interment in Fernwood Cemetery under Cole Cranbury.

The Middlesex County Board of Taxation will elect William A Spencer Republican of Raritan township secretary replacing J Edward Harned Democrat of Woodbridge. J Fred Orpen Republican of New Brunswick becomes board member May 1, giving the board a Republican majority alongside Haney Perth Amboy Jaques New Brunswick. Spencer formerly held the secretary post and practices with Beekman Spencer in Perth Amboy. he ran for Surrogate last fall and opposed Florance for State Senator in 1915.
