Logal Lumber Concerns Highlight Wardner Plant
The Wardner sawmill began the season May 2 with a ten hour shift. The Crow's Nest operation supports about 90 to 100 workers plus 200 in logging camps. A fire last August damaged the planing mill. rebuilt mill started April with modern equipment and power systems. The company runs three logging camps on the Dull River and an 8 mile railway to bring logs to the head of a mill run, then six miles to the Kootenay river for delivery. The Baker Lumber Company also reports strong output of 75,000 feet daily, with a secondary plant at Jakeson. New marketing chief C Burgess appointed after J W Robinson left in November.
