In Kimberley many locals, including Mr. Manning and Miss Eva Neilson, hostesses, attend meetings and showers. A ji tney accident leaves two injured but no serious harm. Community events include church fund drives, a theatre benefit for United Church, and a curling rink ice plans. Local visitors from Cranbrook and Calgary frequent the town, while school concerts and fire whist drives add to December preparations.
Enrico Pelligrin recovering well after appendicitis surgery at St. Eugene Hospital. Alec Derby of the Western Grocers visited recently. Verne Slye of P Burns Company was in town for business. The Recreation Club held its third meeting last Wednesday with a larger crowd.
In Lumberton, Patrick Downey hospital bound with tonsilitis. BORN On Saturday November 21 a son to Mr and Mrs Howard Walker at St Eugene Hospital. Also a daughter born Monday November 23 to Mr and Mrs T Pattinson at the same hospital. Hyacinth of Wardner hospital for operation this week. Local residents injured in hospital and recovering. Transients arrive by box car. motorists warned to guard robes. Fire at MacDonald Pool Room extinguished after early morning ignition. Visitors from Louix City Iowa plan trip to California. Police seek John Johnston of Ireland, last heard from lumber camp. Horses straying through city cause nuisance. Five crown mining claims for sale by local office, paid up, no claims for sale. Hillson Hyflex auto attachment sale rights transfer to Attree Fort Steele. Cranbrook men join syndicate.
A bulletin notes gains from a combined carburetor air brake system used by major firms saving fuel and brake lining wear. It lists upcoming events at Baptist, Presbyterian, and United churches with Miss Annie Fountain and E R McLean addressing members of groups like the C G I T. Also reported is Sandy Grennick’s Idaho smuggling conviction and a K P Lodge hot cake event with Alex Harry and Jack Taylor providing treats.
At a Cranbrook YMCA meeting the adjourned Cranbrook Ladies Hockey League resolved to dissolve the body and have member clubs affiliate with the Cranbrook city league. Officers of the city league had been appointed last week. Two clubs will add two members from each club to the directorate.
The Amateur Athletic Association Board will be represented by the Hockey league. A forthcoming Hockey Board meeting will set practice hours for each ladies' club and organize a games schedule.
After a Pacific Royal line wreck at noon the fireman vanished beneath the engine and tender in lake water. Divers from Vancouver were dispatched as officials exhausted efforts to locate him amid coal and rock debris.
A deadly accident on the railway division drew deep sympathy from railway workers and the public. CPR and police have assisted at the wreck site to recover the fireman’s body, which divers located on Wednesday and brought to the city.
