City Band Delights Celebration With Marching Program
Sunshine inspired a real old time celebration as the newly reformed city band under Mr. W. A. Burton performed all day from the parade to the grounds. Musicians labored weeks to balance instruments funded by city subscriptions and a council grant, with open air concerts hoped for as warmer weather returns. The nineteen piece band offered Spirit of Freedom, War Eagle, First Prize, Red White and Blue, and other selections during Wednesday’s program.
