Supreme Court at Cranbrook spring assizes hits docket
Mr Justice Clement arrived in Cranbrook on Thursday for the spring assizes. Several motions were disposed of including William v Shields. Beatty v CP Rail and Anderson v Consolidated Mining and Smelting were heard with mixed outcomes. Anderson suffered a rock injury at Sullivan Mine and jury awarded 2000 damages. Court adjourned late Friday. W H Wilson was jury foreman.

Special to the Herald from Invermere B C May 28 1917 Private Douglas Kennedy died in France from wounds received. Born in Ireland he lived here with A G Cuthbert superintendent of Columbia Valley Irrigation Land Co. He has relatives in Ireland two brothers in the trenches and a sister here. He enlisted in May 1916. J Granite is reported wounded in the eye. He was a late resident of Wilmer B C
