A major Cranbrook racing event is planned for May 24 with $1500 in prizes. Local owners pledge fast horses and visitors are urged to attend as the city band plays with free admission for school children.
Brooklyn Eagle reports King George plan to visit Canada in 1904 with possible stop in Niagara Falls to meet President Wilson and open the Toronto exhibition. The voyage may include a royal tour to Australia and South Africa, with the Prince of Wales likely to accompany the King.
A medal contest for junior and cradle roll youths at the Baptist church drew praise and high interest. Milo Drummond and Barrie McDonald won silver medals while several contestants were unavailable due to measles. Judges included A T Webb Cameron Crothers and others with Gilmour accompanying on organ. William Bartholomew introduces a new automatic regulator for incubators aiming to balance heat moisture and ventilation. Ottawa April 28 a landmark decision orders a twenty per cent cut in western express rates to take effect by July 15. The board finds prairie and British Columbia tariffs unreasonable and reduces the standard maximum mileage tariff from five to four dollars per hundred pounds in the prairie and to four dollars and seventy five cents in the mountains.
President Wilson telegraphed Governor Johnson asking to hold up the California anti alien legislation until Secretary Bryan can visit California and explain federal positions. The move follows Johnson's note that California wished to cooperate with the federal government to avert international difficulties.

Gil presenting the “King of Cakes.” On Friday May 9 provincial demonstrators will give lectures and demonstrations including hygiene and home life by Mrs. Fr. J. Atkinson and canning by Mrs. Norman of Mirror Lake, B C, with both afternoon and evening sessions.
