Heroic chase ends in capture of hotel thief

Albert Winn, described as a fair haired man aged about 32, entered the North Star hotel office at Kimberley Aberley last Tuesday. The bartender alerted Harry Drew, who found his own safe opened and $550 cash and cheques missing. Drew pursued Winn across a snow covered bridge, where Winn fired at the pursuers and hid beneath. Drew bravely jumped the bridge to seize the thief, handing him to police after a brief struggle. Winn was committed for trial at the next session.

Gierard resigns from Auditorium after two years of service

Wm Gierard who managed the Auditorium for two years ends his connection after a costly struggle to keep Cratbrrok's first class entertainment. He revolutionised local shows and brought high quality acts, but mounting debts and failed deals left him bankrupt and leaving town poorer.

Theatre manager Guerard leaves town for new start

The passage notes Guerard's hardship after his theatre ventures, his home sold to move his wife and family, and hopes that Cranbrook will better appreciate his efforts. The Baldwin brothers plan to close the Auditorium for several days for renovations while the Edison theatre continues, and moving pictures will appear at the Auditorium one night a week temporarily.
