Splendid Cranbrook Meeting Over Electric Light By-law
A well attended Cranbrook public meeting on the proposed electric light by-law showed broad support for progress while protecting property rights. Alderman Fink chaired. city officials and Beattie for the Wleethie Light Company outlined plans to extend the plant with a possible 26 year loan and substantial investment. Participants debated municipal ownership, with strong advocacy on both sides, and the majority expressed confidence the by-law would be properly hedged and passed to aid Cranbrook’s development.
