Cranbrook Peace Celebration Plans Move Ahead

Cranbrook's Peace Celebration committee met in the City Council Chamber with Percy Adam presiding. Reports covered finances for sports and dances, parade ambitions, and cooperation from Great War Veterans led by Lieut Col Davis. a final meeting was set for July 18.

The regular meeting set for twentieth inst is urged to assemble with President Ashworth presiding after returning from vacation. Comrade Lunn reported on the Vancouver convention while the Ladies Auxiliary aided lodging with bedding. The editor declines to publish speculation on the theft of white blankets.

Victoria July 11. Lieut.-Col. M. F. Purney president of the G. W. V. A. of Canada addressed the Canadian Club. He urged support for war veterans who fought in France and now strive to build a better Canada, free of prejudice and party strife. The veterans seek the public backing the same as during the war.

Registrar's Office Shuts In 1917 BC Act Amalgamations Move

The Registrar under the Military Service Act BC has orders to close his Vancouver office by the 14th if work permits. Records of about 1000 defaulters from the province will be sent to Regina Saskatchewan to join Western Province files. Communications after the 16th should be directed to Regina and need not be stamped. A wedding gift cheque was presented to Earnest Duffle of Kitchener by Sash and Door Company workers.

Brechin Arrives in Toronto as Lumber Market Commissioner

Major James Brechin of Vancouver arrives in Toronto to establish offices as Lumber Market Commissioner for Ontario and the East.
