Crantrook Electors Set for Mayor and Council Contests

Agricultural Society Reorganizes With New Directors

A large turnout of city and district representatives attended the reorganization of the Agricultural Society. W. J. Baredvett was named chair. The annual report and auditor’s statement were adopted. Directors were elected including R. J. Beattie and J. P. Fink with officers chosen such as Premier Brewster as president and John Oliver among the vice presidents.

Fernie District Patriotic Fund reports December receipts

Secretary A Cummings details December 1915 collections totaling 3406.70 across Fernie Coal Creek Michel Natal and other districts with disbursements to Red Cross and Patriotic funds. Since October 1914 the fund has raised 44841.35 with13 months averaging 2779.00 monthly and a recent district tour noted.

The city council held a Friday evening session with Mayor Clapp presiding. Aldermen Erickson Hanson Leask Balmont and Santo attended. No committee reports. Erickson and others urged Clapp to run again. he consented to seek re election. Balment cited illness of Supt Harshaw delaying YMCA water talks. matter to incoming council. A $5 grant was given to a needy elderly local woman. Fire Chief presented annual department report with extracts.
