Fernie residents hear that some miners threaten strike while most favor current conditions. Donell McDonald of the American Labor Unions plans to visit the Crow’s Nest country late January to organize lumbermen and other crafts. Father Hagerty of the A I will tour British Columbia and lecture for a $50 night fee. Dr F E King, dentist, will practice in Cranbrook after locating above King’s store, with training from eastern colleges and modern equipment.
Arthur Dansereau editor of La Presse reports Premier Laurier, after time in Florida, is as strong mentally and physically as five years ago. He is expected to return by the end of next week.

Mining news reports new leases on Wild Horse Creek and upper Invicta placer ground by Jack Thompson and partners. The Cripple Creek district yields over 24 million in gold last year, surpassing Klondike, while Rand South Africa and California oil storage expand.
The past year shows 441000 tons of coal and 112000 tons of coke produced. in igor output was 426250 tons coal and 122450 tons coke. Improvements costing 1000000 have not been made and another million is expected next year. Daily output is 2000 tons and should double by April 1. Monthly payroll totals 1000000 with 950000 for materials. Coal creek employs about 1000 and Michel 600 Morrissey 400. Two hundred fifty coke ovens to be built at Michel and Morrissey next spring. six new openings at Coal creek mines planned in spring.
New York January 2 prices show soft coal advancing to 8.40 per ton as the wholesale rate excluding freight. Anthracite costs are listed per ton to consumers.
