Col. A. M. Jarvis of the Royal Canadian North West Mounted Police arrives aboard the Canadian Pacific steamer Montcalm after a world trip. In 31 years he drove teams and sledges across Canada, built the first police post atop the Rockies, retired in 1911 to fruit farms near Victoria and a 1000 acre wheat farm near Calgary, and served five years in World War I reaching lieutenant colonel with the 7th Canadian Division.

Cranbrook veterans mourn the death of Major Andrew Black of Fernie, a former 54th Kootenay Regiment officer. He died suddenly of heart failure after a meal, after serving bravely in World War I and earning the M. C. He had recently married Alice Duthie.
