Seed distribution to promote alfalfa and corn farming
The Department plans to distribute seed corn and alfalfa to farmers via Institutes to boost two crops essential for livestock and cheaper beef pork and mutton. One pound each of three corn varieties or five pounds of Grimms Extra No 1 alfalfa seed per request, with seed charges and limited applications per farm. The Cranbrook Poultry and Pet Stock Association held its usual monthly meeting in the old gym with exhibitions. White Wyandottes took first prize in both male and female categories. envelopes donated by Mr. W. H. McGregor. A paper on care of laying hens read by Mr. A. H. Pigott. Next meeting set for first Friday in March featuring Plymouth Rocks and a talk by Mr. E. Slater on exhibition bird care. Mrs. W. H. McGregor, secretary, invites inquiries about poultry. Miss Margaret Kennedy has been seriously ill with pleurisy.
