The Crows Nest Branch of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club held its annual meeting at the city hall. Geo Hogarth was elected president with J S Kirkham as vice president and S Herchmer as secretary. Four open bonspiel events were kept, and Lethbridge was invited to host the next bonspiel. The meeting addressed attendance, prize support for the McLeod Cup, and scheduling to avoid delays. Miss Rosie Pascuzzo faced appendicitis surgery at Cranbrook Hospital.

Recreation Club notes tee carnival and prizes announced
Arrangements for the Tee Carnival at the Club Rink on February 23 are advancing. Prizes for recruiting members include a year’s membership and equipment. second prize is a year’s membership. A Banff Orchestra event is planned for April 20, and a boys and girls basketball formation meeting is set for Saturday at 2 o’clock.

Henry M Burrow died at St Eugene hospital after a fall leaving him near eighty. He lived many years in Fort Steele with daughter Mrs Cooper and a son in England. A Masonic leader in England, he served as Past Grand Preceptor and Past District Deputy Grand Master. Funeral at Fort Steele Sunday February 11 at 1 PM under North Star Lodge No 32 A F and A M with no flowers.

New Modern Hotel Planned for Cranbrook This Spring
A Cranbrook investor will build a 25 to 30 room modern hotel on Baker Street and Fenwick Avenue near the Forestry Branch building. The project includes a grand lobby, en suite rooms with baths, showers, and brick backing from local Columbia brick yards. The hotel aims to serve tourist traffic opening with the Banff Windermere highway and reflects the Board of Trade effort to boost business.

Fire at Wycliffe School Closes Rooms for Repairs
A Friday evening fire at Wycliffe School caused about 700 dollars in damage, starting in the partition between two rooms. A defective flue is suspected. Fire brigades from Otis Staples Mill extinguished the blaze. Some partitions, plastering, and roofing will need replacement. Insurance adjusters visited. school expected to reopen early next week.

Cranbrook Musical Society Plans February Concert
Preparations are underway for a Friday concert on February 16 with a varied programme. The Wycliffe sextette finally ends its drought with a 3 to 1 victory over the Tunnel Team in Kimberley after a fast, tense match that required three extra periods. Jones Whitehead and Cairne scored for Wycliffe in a high action first period, Musser replying for the Tunnel. Murray added a long shot and Jones Paul contributed for Wycliffe as the Tunnel pressed in the final period, aided by Crowe’s goalkeeping.
