Last Friday Manual Training school held an open house with a smaller crowd due to cold weather. Students worked on three year courses in drawing and woodwork with plans and models on display, while a curling association meeting at city hall outlined season rinks and competition.

Kootena Central Completes First Train Over New Road
The Kootena Central completed its first passenger run over the new road, arriving in Golden on Saturday. Annual Meeting of Cranbrook Riflemen Elects Officers
The Cranbrook Civilian Rifle Association held its second annual meeting on Tuesday the 1th with about twenty five members present. Officers for 1915 were Captain A H Webster Secretary H H Bourne and Treasurer C J Little. executive committee members were W J Atchison A C Bowness E McMahon F Lister along with the captain secretary and treasurer. A miniature range in the city was discussed and a committee was formed with the 107th East Kootenay Regiment to pursue it. The treasurer reported a better financial position. the association expects the government grant for range care to arrive and adjusted the annual membership fee to 1 dollar from 2. W J Allison was noted as the best shot with an average of 41. This was earned in his first season on the range.

Public Market gains support at Cranbrook meeting

Halifax December 16. Thirty eight invalid and rejected soldiers from the free Canadian contingent returned by the Allan Line steamer Scandinavian. Twenty three are on the sick list and retain their uniforms. Fifteen are misfits dismissed for drunkenness and disorderly conduct or other misdemeanors. Some admit doubts about military life at Salisbury Plain. most would take another chance with the troops.
