The BC and Alberta Power Co. representatives outlined plans to supply power by July 1, 1921, with commitments to large consumers by year end. Aldermen Mackinnon Flowers Dunn named to electric light committee. Eakin to serve as plant superintendent. Eakin to resign alderman. City engineer Eassie granted three months leave for South American business. J. C. Donald of BC and Alberta Power Co. pledged support and free engineering advice, noting Fernie’s shift to three-phase power.

About fifty workmen are employed by B C Spruce Mills Limited at Wattsburg. They are building a twelve mile flume on the ten thousand acre Spruce tract and placing a portable sawmill to cut timber for the flume. When ready water will be released and timber floated downstream as needed.

Drowning Tragedy Strikes Mrs Coleman at Lake Windermere
Invermere B C August 24 Mrs Dalton Coleman wife of D C Coleman vice president of the CPR and president of the K W R died in a drowning accident at Lake Windermere. She was visiting with her two young sons and a nurse. The rescue attempt by John Taynton failed when the canoe capsized twice. A large flotilla searched the bay and recovered her body about ten feet deep fifty feet from shore. Mr Coleman travels to Cranbrook for funeral arrangements.

CPR Conductor Macfarlane Dies in Cranbrook
Jamees Edmund Macfarlane a 39 year old Canadian Pacific Railway conductor from Cranbrook died at St Eugene Hospital after heart failure following valve leakage. He served in WWI, married recently, and was chairman of the Order of Railway Conductors. His body was sent to Ontario for interment with his wife traveling with him.
