Second Concert By Local Talent

The CranBrook Musical Society held its second concert in the Auditorium on a postponed date. The twenty strong orchestra under W A Burton performed well with the intermezzo Melody of Love and the Atlantis suite drawing praise. Mrs H C Kinghorn sang well, banjo solos by T L South and W Stewart earned encores, and the Glee Club impressed. The program featured saxophone solos, two part songs, and strong orchestral support from Al an Graham and Mrs F W Pym. Despite poor attendance the event showcased effort, with hope the society continues despite the challenges.

May Parade Planned for Morning Celebration

Officials announce a 24th May celebration with a red old time float parade evoking historic days. Prizes will be awarded for best floats and decorated bicycles, with additional prizes for store fronts. Organizers urge wide participation to create a memorable holiday.

Salvation Army Annual Self Denial Appeal planned in Cranbrook

The Salvation Army will hold its Annual Self Denial appeal in Cranbrook from May 8 to 24 to raise funds for hospital and rescue work in Canada. The district aims to collect $300, with local efforts already distributing clothing and relief to the needy. Also noted are train changes on the Crow line, a parish concert at the Anglican Hall, power transmission issues near Fernie, a basketball night at the Recreation Club, and a Women's Institute meeting at the Parish Hall with guest speaker Mrs. Lyne. A Chinese affairs case involving Chin Chaun and Chin Bow is set for next hearing.

Big Company Sees Higher 1921 Profits and Cost Cuts

The Consolidated Milling & Smelting Company of Canada reported 1921 profits of 670 043 a gain over the previous year by 288 694. Net profits after charges stood at 570 043 77. Receipts from sales were 7 516 865 with assets listed at 21 317 471. Directors predicted further cost reductions in 1922 amid high fuel and transport costs and mixed copper outlook.

Plebiscite Plea Postpones School Building Debate

At a largely attended city hall meeting a five member committee was named to urge the school board to delay any building or addition until after the next civic election. They proposed securing plans and estimates and possibly moving to hold a plebiscite. residents urged action though the council lacks direct control over the separate elected school board.
