A Friday evening blaze at Mr and Mrs Gee's home on Dennis Street caused heavy interior damage. Fire originated between two rooms and chimney inspection found no flaw. Total loss estimated between three and four hundred dollars due to fire and wall removal.
City Council Hears Slaterville Water Renewal Plan Debated
The Slaterville water renewal proposal dominated the Tuesday council meeting with a delegation led by Burton urging a definite city commitment. The plan would require about 2000 toward a new main from Van Horne to Wise’s corner and a 25 cent per house levy for fire protection, while critics warned against unvetted costs and meter schemes.
