Dominion to buy remounts in Cranbrook and district
The Dominion government will send a representative to purchase remounts in this district with stops at Fort Steele on May 7 and Cranbrook on May 7. Farmers may sell suitable horses including artillery types. Inspector Dr. J W Rutledge will oversee shipments to Fort Steele and city. Other visits planned for Golden May 3 Atif almer May 6 and 6. Horses must be sound in good condition and properly broken. Riding horses age 5–10, height 15 to 153 hands, 1000–1200 lb. Artillery horses age 5–10, height 15–16 hands, 1300–1500 lb. Colors bays browns blacks chestnuts blue roans red roans no light greys or whites. Over forty thousand horses have been bought in Canada for British and allied armies.

Funeral of Peter Carruthers in Cranbrook and Lethbridge
The late Bombadier Peter Carruthers of the 20th Battery C F A, funder al services in Lethbridge Alta and interment in Ottawa. A large funeral drew Cranbrook residents to Lethbridge with full military honors. An escort of 100 men led by Sergeant Perry accompanied the remains on a gun carriage as Knox church filled with mourners.
