Deadly horse plague spreads to multiple states
Reports of a severe horse disease blamed on a fungal growth in grass sweep Kansas and have reached Oklahoma Nebraska and Missouri. Veterinarians say it resembles spinal meningitis and is not contagious. Thousands of horses may be lost as counties suffer and farmers lose stock impacting crops. Officials in Missouri consider restricting Kansas feedstuffs this winter.
