The Whale Bird wedding at Hillsboro High School was postponed due to rain and will be held Friday night March 23 with new stunts added to the program. Also covered are letters on bigotry in the community, Knights of Columbus oath controversy, and local social notes from Covington and surrounding towns.
Mr and Mrs B H Bertrand and Mrs Nettie Stinespring of William sport were guests of Mr and Mrs T A Clifton Sunday afternoon.
Chiropractor C C Misenheimer opens a free clinic for children under 12 at his offices in the First National Bank building. Sessions run Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays from 3 to 5 p.m. starting Saturday March 24. Dr Misenheimer is a Palmer school graduate with thorough chiropractic training.
In a circuit court trial Wednesday Grant Waldron sued Amil Lindberg over a well Waldron had dug for Lindberg The court ruled for Waldron awarding 440 70 to the plaintiff plus attorney fees and costs totaling about 600 The decision included no relief.
A fire of mysterious origin damaged the Shuler residence on South Fifth Street Sunday morning. Mrs Shuler rose ill and opened curtains in the library, discovering flames in the west window draperies. Harry Shuler beat out the fire with a rug, but furnishings suffered. The source of the blaze remains unknown.
Rodolph Valentino, Hollywood star, will appear at the Lyric theatre next Monday and Tuesday in his first Paramount film Blood and Sand. Lila Lee and Nita Naldi lead the supporting cast in this screen adaptation of the Ibanez novel.
Clay Angleton and Claud Harris of Oak Lawn Danville were thrown clear as their Ford racer slid on soft gravel west of town Tuesday evening. The car was scattered and occupants suffered bruises.
Early Monday a blaze at Dr. C. L. Myers residence on North Fourth Street started from an overheated furnace pines. The fire caused little damage and was brought under control quickly.
Harry Cook of Veedersburg reported the theft of his Ford coupe license 6353 from in front of the Palace theatre in Danville during a vaudeville performance Sunday night.
Tabatha Oblinger daughter of Mr and Mrs Abraham Jerred born Fountain county near Covington August 6 1858 died March 15 1923 age 69 years 7 months 9 days. She married Russell Jarvis September 20 1878 and had one child William Jarvis. Her second marriage November 1 1884 was to Jacob Oblinger and they had Aos Oblinger. Both children survived her along with a husband a step son Julian Oblinger a brother A J Jerred a half brother Hamilton Martin and many friends. She was a devoted wife and mother and bore illness with patience, leaving fond memories and a promise of meeting again in heaven.

Gordon Moffett visited Veedersburg on Saturday. Troy Glascock and Cade Drollinger attended the sale at Veedersburg. George Moffett Harry Cade and W I Drollinger were guests of Wm Jones and wife Saturday. Velma Drollinger visited home folks Saturday and Sunday. Andrew Parrott, old pioneer, died Friday and was laid to rest in Centenial cemetery Sunday. C W E M did not meet Wednesday due to cold wave but will meet next Wednesday. Bill Grimes Ford seen in front of James Pyle home Sunday evening. Shingles blown off Steam Corner schoolhouse during the week’s storm. Myrtle Copeland and Magdaline Drollinger shopped in Danville Saturday and visited Oval Drollinger and H O Drollinger and wife. Oral Troy Glascock and family slowly improving after flu. Velma Drollinger and mother called on Mrs John Palmer Will Parish and Dad Drollinger Saturday.
John Belles, who sold his drug store to James Hastings and Sharon Hunt, has contracted to buy a similar store in Danville, Idaho. The Danville store belongs to an estate being settled, and Belles will take charge when settlement is completed.
Funeral services for Mrs. P. B. Slaughter were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 30 at the home of Frank Gran in Hoopeston Illinois. Interment followed in Floral Hill cemetery beside her husband. The family formerly lived in Wiliam sport for many years.

The C I C Sunday school class will host a mysterious supper on Saturday March 31 in the church basement to raise funds for the Sunday school. Mr and Mrs Charles Clark visited Covington over the weekend. The river has run out of the bottoms for a week as a past winter blizzard hit Monday morning. The young peoples Endeavor met at Frank Beyner’s home for business and social session. Election notice: Fountain Christian church will hold a trustee election on April 8.
The Crawfordsville district sends Dr. A G Leazenby to preach and lead the 2nd Quarterly Conference. Sunday School begins 9 45 a m with morning worship at 11 a m and evening service at 7 49 p m. Pastor Russell B Kern extends a cordial invitation to all.
