Divisions No 1 City of Covington and Covington Rural Routes No 2 City of Newtown and vicinity announce campaign closes Saturday August 14. Open to men and women with prizes including a five passenger car two diamond rings merchandise orders and cash commission to all non winning entrants.
A nineteenth century notice announces a policy granting a ten percent commission to every entrant who fails to win. The measure aims to offset entry costs and encourage participation across all categories in the event.
Distribution of awards offers prizes for top vote getters in each division. First place earns a tourteg ear and a cismonad ring, second place receives a merchandise order, and non-winning candidates get a ten percent cash commission. Voting runs July 12 to July 24 with varied prize figures listed.
Two genuine diamond rings will be awarded to candidates finishing first in each district after the prize has been awarded. Local merchants will sponsor the awards and the diamonds will be purchased from those merchants.
Merchants will give two merchandise orders or cash certificates to the runners up in each district after the first prize is awarded. The policy specifies provision of second place rewards from participating merchants to finishers.
The campaign opens and closes August 1 to secure paid subscriptions for The Cayington Republican and Newtown Enterprise. Subscriptions earn votes, with a free vote coupon in each paper. Anyone in Covington, Newtown and nearby areas may run, entries may be by self or family, and votes must be clipped or received on paid subscriptions.
