The Indiana Odd Fellows show six months to December 31 1904 gains in 11 lodges and 474 members to a total of 6320. Relief totaling 120 772 for six months and 237 553.20 for the year, with total resources at 5 287 223.41 and indebtedness 415 272.65 leaving net resources 2 871 950.76.
The dates of local fairs are announced. Frankfort on Aug 22 and 26. Lafayette from Aug 28 to Sept 2. Lebanon on Aug 15 and 18. Boswell Sept 4 and 8. Crawfordsville Sept 4 to 7. Newtown on Aug 24 and 25.
In a speech before the Indiana Funeral Directors convention in Indianapolis Coroner Tutewiler explained that the state anatomical board had ended grave robbing. He noted more bodies were offered to colleges than needed and that a county society refused a recently offered body as unusable.
The Attica Press recalls a man once rich with 400 acres near Ladoga, cattle, and cash who arrived at Mellett depot in a drunken state. Now ragged and penniless, he wanders for work, spending all on whiskey, a warning to youths to guard money, body, and soul.

A large number of local homes received fresh paint this year boosting curb appeal and improving overall appearance throughout the city.
The Monarch Carnival Company won council approval Monday night to use certain streets during the last week of June. A carnival will run the week of June 26 with opening week in Koko mo featuring better shows and finer free attractions than previous years.
The May Festival featured a strong program with two notable lectures by Dr Ewing of Danville Illinois on The Under Side of Things and Dr Cole of Lafayette on Andrews Raid. An audience praised the engaging DJ and the Stilweil orchestra provided excellent music with many encores.
The Indiana Wool Dealers' Association and M Herzog of Leader clash over wool prices. Herzog not a member, initially set 25 cents a pound, then raised to 30 and 42 cents after association's men entered his territory. Covington stands as a major regional market. Herzog operates a 200000 pound capacity warehouse and has bought 50000 pounds this year, with 150000 pounds bought last year.
An ad offers clothes pressing service with a month of pressing for $1 and home delivery. Covington Pressing Club operates on the West Side of the Square, inviting customers to keep their garments neat.

Trustee Carston D. Sita announces weekly township business meetings in the first front office room of the K P building on Wednesdays and Saturdays to conduct township affairs.

Doverals, Trustee Smith, has collected 825 in dog tax. 49 dogs remain unpaid and will be turned over to the prosecutor if not paid promptly. Mellett to receive another rural route north of town changing current routes. Notices posted seeking exam applicants for the new route. The Veedersburg public will see the Texas Bill Wild West Show featuring the World's Best Rough Riders on June 6, a major crowd attractor for the date.

W. G. Boyd and J. C. Hopkins, well known Covington citizens, have opened a restaurant near the Circle Park Hotel on the Circle in Indianapolis. They promise to serve the public in their distinctive style and have proven themselves experts in this line.
The Fourth of July celebration at Covington is abandoned after the committee fails to secure necessary encouragement. Carnival week preceding contributed to a sense of fatigue among attendees and organizers.
Charles M. Bettis finished cement abutments for the county line bridge over Coal Creek east of Hillsboro. Superstructure will be installed at once. approaches remain to be completed. Miss Lottie Crane’s Sunday school class will serve ice cream strawberries and cake in the courthouse yard Saturday evening June Sed.

The election held last Saturday in Coal Creek township Montgomery county voted 350 to 259 against a tax for 54 miles of new gravel road. Opponents from the eastern part argued a local system already exists with private roads and should be expanded privately. High Art Clothing advertised for sale at J Loeb's Store.
