Fire Destroys Ed Mayer Auto En Route to Danville

Fire destroyed most of Ed Mayers automobile Sunday evening after a trip with his aunt and cousin to Danville. The rear of the car burst into flames near the river bridge, forcing abandonment to avoid lighting the wooden bridge. The blaze likely started from an overheated muffler touching greasy overalls. The car, costing about $1750 a year ago, was insured for $1000 and little of the vehicle remains usable. Ed Mayer has suffered prior misfortune with this car.
